Norwegian road authority Nye Veier has selected BERINOR ANS, a joint venture of Besix and Rizzani de Eccher, to further develop the E6 Moelv-Roterud motorway project.
The project includes the main bridge over the Lake Mjøsa spanning 1.3 km in length and an 11 km section of four-lane motorway.
The 11 km motorway includes widening of the existing infrastructure and constructing new ones. Additionally, there will be several smaller bridges and culverts along the alignment.
The concept of the bridge includes the use of structural timber, which is expected to make it one of the longest bridges in the world to use sustainable material.
In June this year, the joint venture BERINOR ANS was selected as the preferred contractor to deliver the project, which is expected to be completed in 2025.

Philippine Infradev’s wholly-owned unit Makati City Subway has awarded an EPC contract, worth $1.2 bn, to China Construction Second Engineering Bureau for the construction of the $3.7 bn Makati Subway Project.
Under the contract, the company will be responsible for the civil, mechanical, electrical and plumbing works of the Makati Subway Project, an 11 km intra-city mass transport system.
The project, which is planned to be commissioned by 2025. Backed by $1.3 bn loan from the Asian Development Bank (ADB), the project involves the construction of 53.1km-long railway line connecting Malolos to Clark economic zone and Clark International Airport (CIA) in central Luzon, Philippines. It forms part of the 163 km North-South Commuter Railway Project.

A joint venture of Turner Construction Company and US-based heavy civil infrastructure contractor Flatiron has secured a contract to build a new $2.265 bn airport terminal at San Diego International Airport in the US.
The 1.2 million ft² building, which will replace the existing 1960s era terminal, will comprise 30 gates and offer more seating for passengers as well as additional security checkpoints with more lanes.
Subject to securing all environmental permits, construction is slated to commence in late 2021.
Planned to be launched in the first quarter of 2025, the first phase will involve the construction of 19 new gates, while the second phase, scheduled to open in early 2027, will involve the construction of 11 new gates

Skanksa in joint venture with Manafort Brothers, has secured a contract from the Rhode Island Department of Transportation (RIDOT) for the replacement of an elevated section of Providence Viaduct Bridge on Interstate 95 (I-95).
The total contract is worth $212 m and Skanska’s portion of the contract is worth $106 m. The design and build project will be located in the downtown of Providence and is expected to optimise traffic by replacing the viaduct and associated ramp and overpass structures.
As part of the contract, Skanska will demolish and construct a new viaduct along with several other services including bridge preservation, roadway reconstruction, etc.
The overall project not only includes the replacement of the viaduct, but will also include the reconstruction of 11 bridges in total, many of which are critical in terms of safety.

Komatsu Mining, a provider of advanced equipment, systems and direct services to the mining industry, has begun construction on its new headquarters and manufacturing campus in Wisconsin, US.
Located in Milwaukee’s Harbour District on east Greenfield Avenue, the company’s South Harbour Campus will cover an area of 2.5 million ft².
It will reinforce the company’s commitment to Milwaukee as a large machining, heavy fabrication and engineering centre of excellence.
Collaborating with the state of Wisconsin and the city of Milwaukee, Komatsu Mining plans to invest about $285 m to deliver its new project.
Pre-construction work on the project is in progress since the end of 2019. The company plans to occupy the new campus by 2022.
