Volvo Excavators Deliver Versatility And Power For Australian Earthmoving Company

Action Dirt Works relies on a fleet of excavators from Volvo Construction Equipment to deliver reliable earthmoving projects.

Established in 2019, Action Dirt Works deploys a fleet of five Volvo compact and medium-sized excavators for a wide range of earthmoving projects across the Melbourne area. Action Dirt Works’ fleet includes an ECR25D, ECR35D, two ECR58D and an ECR145CL excavator. Mitch Bartlett, the owner of Action Dirt Works, purchased this line of brand-new excavators from local dealer CJD Equipment. The machines have worked on diverse projects such as swimming pools, horse arenas and dams. The excavators were recently deployed to work at a private SXS racetrack and an ornamental dam in Gough’s Bay.

Flexible Attachments

Bartlett says Volvo excavators’ versatility is ideal for the niche earthmoving projects the company handles, especially since they come with a wide range of attachments for different applications and conditions.

One attachment that Action Dirt Works has found especially useful is the tiltable ditching bucket, which can tilt laterally and 45 degrees throughout the work process. The tiltable ditching bucket has proved invaluable for tasks like landscaping, ditch work, grading and backfilling.

“We have run tilt hitches on most of our diggers for a long time now. When we first started using them, everyone was blown away by how good they were and how well we could finish off our jobs,” Bartlett says. “We are currently looking at upgrading our Volvo ECR145CL to the latest E-Series, which offers all the latest technology and will increase productivity. We are also looking at fitting it out with a tilt rotator head.”

Strong Dealer Relationship

Bartlett has had a strong relationship with the staff at CJD Equipment since his first purchase four years ago. In particular, he appreciates the exceptional customer service the dealership provides from start to finish.

“Our experience with CJD Equipment is very good – the sales team made the whole process from quote to delivery an enjoyable experience,” Bartlett said. “Also, their after-sales service is second to none. From onsite support and servicing to the workshop, they are awesome. I can’t praise their knowledge and products highly enough.”

With support from CJD Equipment and Volvo CE, Mitch Bartlett is enjoying running a thriving business. And he’s ready to write the next chapter in the company’s history, relocating his company from its Melbourne base to Gold Coast, taking his fleet of Volvo CE machines with him.

MOBISCREEN EVO Screens In Action

MOBISCREEN EVO Screens In Action

The Mobile Screens: Made In India

Manufactured by the WIRTGEN GROUP in India, to be precise in the local production and assembly plant in Pune, the mobile screening plants in the MOBISCREEN EVO line are successful worldwide. The machines are classifying screens, which means that they classify the rock after it has been crushed by KLEEMANN crushing plants, sorting it into up to three aggregate fractions (MS 702 EVO and MS 952 EVO plants with two screen decks) or up to four aggregate fractions (the 703 and 953 plants with three screen decks). Using various screen surfaces, the plants are ideal for a wide range of applications, for instance, for classifying granite, basalt, iron ore, or limestone. Other highlights of the MOBISCREEN EVO line include – a large feed hopper with vibration for prescreening, an easy-to-operate mobile control panel, and a fully automatic process control system.

Top Performance In Open Cast Applications

The screens make a particularly valuable contribution in their “home market.” However, there is hardly another region anywhere in the world with a more dynamic road construction industry than India. When constructing roads, it is particularly important to supply crushed aggregate in precisely defined grain sizes. KLEEMANN plants also perform invaluable services in open cast applications. This is being demonstrated by 4 MOBISCREEN EVO plants of the MS 952 EVO and MS 953 EVO types in Keonjhar in Odisha. KLEEMANN technology is sustainably boosting productivity and efficiency at an iron ore extraction site operated by its customer Kalinga Commercial Corporation Limited (KCCL). “At present, we are operating four plants for 18-20 hours a day. And we are getting high production levels from all four plants,” says Mr. Shri Kumar, Project Manager at KCCL.

Construction Begins On HS2 High-Speed Rail

Construction has officially commenced on the UK’s £106 bn HS2 high-speed rail project, which runs between London and Birmingham, Manchester and Leeds.

The move follows the approval by the Department for Transport (DfT) to HS2 in April 2020 to issue a notice to proceed to the four main works civils contractors (MWCCs).

As a result, the contractors have now commenced full detailed design and construction works of HS2 Phase One, which involves building a high-speed rail line from London to West Midlands.

Planned to be commissioned between 2029 and 2033, the HS2 phase one will comprise four new stations and two new depots.
