Highways England in the UK has awarded a £108m contract to Balfour Beatty to design and build critical dual carriageway linking the M67 with the A57 in Mottram Moor, Greater Manchester.

The work forms part of Highways England’s Regional Investment Programme. Balfour Beatty will design and build a new dual and single lane carriageway as well as an underpass underneath Mottram Village.

In addition to reducing congestion between Manchester and Sheffield, the work will reconnect local communities divided by a busy road network.

Balfour Beatty Highways business managing director Phil Clifton said, “Balfour Beatty, and our design partners, Atkins, are proud to be delivering this critical project to support economic growth in the North of England.”

Balfour Beatty plans to commence early design works this summer with construction is scheduled to commence by spring 2023.
