Skanska Wins $699m Road Contract From Highways England

 

Skanska a Swedish construction company has received a contract from Highways England worth $ 699.4 m (£507m) to improve the A428 road in Cambridgeshire, England.

Construction of a new 16 km dual carriageway between the A1 Black Cat Black Cat roundabout in Bedfordshire to the A428 Caxton Gibbet roundabout in Cambridgeshire to be done by the company.

Skanska will lead the project and will work in close collaboration with design partner Mott McDonald and Highways England.

The company secured the contract through Highways England’s Regional Delivery Partnership framework, for which it is working as a delivery integration partner for the East of England and Midlands regions.

Highways England A428 Black Cat to Caxton Gibbet Improvements interim project director Lee Galloway said: “The A428 Black Cat to Caxton Gibbet improvements scheme will transform one of the busiest road links in the East of England, helping to save drivers who live, work and travel in and around Bedfordshire and Cambridge an hour-and-a-half on their journeys every week. “
