The government of Uganda has commissioned Bumbobi-Lwakhakha road, which was recently upgraded from gravel/earth road to bitumen standard roads.
The road has a width of 10 m. This includes a 7 m carriageway that features two lanes each of which is 3.5 m wide. The road also has paved shoulders on either of its sides, each measuring 1.5 m in the rural area and 2.0 m wide in trading centres.
The Uganda National Roads Authority (UNRA) was the implementing body for the Bumbobi-Lwakhakha road project.
An additional 3.5 m wide parking lanes were constructed in built-up areas along the route. The width of the existing road has been widened in certain places, and all the existing culverts extended and headwalls replaced.
