The Passenger Ropeway Project connects North Guwahati to Guwahati City traversing over the 1.8 km stretch on the river Brahmaputra. The ropeway will operate from Kachari Ghat in Panbazaar up to the Dol Govinda Temple in North Guwahati.

The ropeway is a twin track, single haul, bi-cable double reversible jig back system with two cabins, each with a capacity of 30 + one (passengers + operators), ropeway capacity of 250 persons per hour.

The project is a convenient and non-polluting means of transport, as well as a source of environment-friendly tourism.
