Allround scaffolding uses a simple, unique and bolt free connection technology. Sliding the wedge head over the rosette and inserting the wedge into the opening immediately secures the component. The face of the wedge head is now precisely positioned against the standard.

Application Of Layher Allround Scaffold For Tallest Office Building In Slovenia

About 90 metres high, the Crystal Palace soars into the sky. The new building in Ljubljana is the tallest office building in Slovenia. The skyscraper also lives up to its name. Not only has the shape of the building reminded of a crystal, but also the shiny surface of the glass façade. To attach the glass elements on the sloping façade, the building contractor ordered a 90 metres high and approximately 12,000 square metres large work scaffold. The Slovenian scaffolders solved this task technically with the Layher Scaffolding: section by section they adapted the scaffold to the slope of the building with various brackets on the inside and then shifted it inwards by one scaffold width. Lattice beams that were anchored through window openings in the building served as bracing. During the assembly, the customers furthermore decided at short term to mount large-scale advertising banners. By bracing the work scaffolding vertically, with Allround lattice beams, even the increased wind loads could be transferred without putting unnecessary strain on the structure.

Application Of All Round For Historical Building

Layher Allround System, the scaffolding company Mönch erected the work scaffolding for renovation works at the “Friedenskirche” church in Ludwigsburg not only very cost-effectively, but above all perfectly adapted to the local conditions – for safe working in highest altitude.

The reason for this is extensive redevelopment works on the belfry of the church listed for preservation. The 72 metres high work scaffolding was erected at Ludwigsburg; as material the scaffolding company chose the Layher Allround Scaffolding. Especially on irregular designs like around and in churches, the Allround Scaffolding impresses with its flexibility and the safe and easy handling. With its advantages like screw-less quick and self-explanatory assembly, form-fitting and solid connection, dimensional stability and rigidity, scaffolders quickly create safe workspaces for the following assembly sections. Even in highest altitudes – and under high loads. After all, heavy stones have to be stored temporarily on the scaffold during the renovation.

In order to adapt the work scaffolding exactly to the design characteristics of the tower – with short bay lengths due to the tapered cone with its structure divided by ornaments – the scaffolders had to do an accurate planning before starting to build the scaffolding. Only on the Eastern façade that faces the street the scaffold was erected as an access on the total height of the tower. On the other sides of the tower, the scaffolders erected the scaffolding in a height of 32 metres, where the tower gallery is. The bearing in this area was carried out with steel beams and lattice girders. In order to be able to work on the ledges, additional suspended scaffolding at approximately 2 metres under the tower gallery was necessary. A passenger lift did not only go easy on the employees, but also the time account. Thus 5 scaffolders erected the scaffolding in 5 weeks quickly, efficiently and, above all, all the way to the top thanks to careful planning and sophisticated logistics – a precision landing.

Now there are no more obstacles in the way of a quick redevelopment of the dilapidated belfry. Especially the quadrangular round sandstone columns show considerable damages. The mortar has become loose in the gaps; the stones are no longer placed safely on top of each other – a danger for the building, but also for passing traffic.

The main cause, however, is the weather, as the sandstone cannot withstand the huge thermal strain. Currently, the need for renovation is
being analyzed exactly from the scaffolding; afterwards the stone restoration company and the stonemasons will start their work.

Bharatmala Pariyojana, managed by Road Transport and Highways Ministry of the Country (MORTH), is a new umbrella program for the highways sector that focuses on optimising freight and passenger movement efficiency across the country by bridging critical infrastructure gaps through effective interventions. These include the development of Economic Corridors, Inter Corridors and Feeder Routes, National Corridor Efficiency Improvement, Border and International connectivity roads, Coastal and Port connectivity roads, and Green-field expressways.

Since the commencement of the project in December 2018, Mapei has been an integral part of the Bharatmala project. It has been responsible for supplying products like Concrete Admixtures, Curing compounds, fibres, etc. With the “Make in India” scheme, Mapei India manufactures and provides the products in India from the two plants located in Bangalore and Vadodara. Dynamon Range Of Concrete Admixtures

Dynamon SX is a high performance, water-reducing admixture for concrete. It is based on polycarboxylate. Dynamon SX can be used when concrete requires a high level of workability and excellent mechanical properties when hardened. Dynamon SX has been designed for use in ready-mix and precast or pre-stress applications and where there is a need for greater water reduction and high mechanical strength. Its performance makes it particularly suitable for manufacturing self-consolidating concrete (SCC). Dynamon SX ensures high workability and cohesiveness in all concrete.

Mapecure Range Of Curing Compounds

Mapecure E 30/E50 (White) – Film-forming curing compound in water emulsion for concrete. Improves moisture retention in concrete. Complies with ASTM C-309 with excellent curing efficiency reducing shrinkage cracks.

Mapecure 101 – White pigmented acrylic resin-based film-forming, curing, sealing, and protective compound in water emulsion for concrete. Mapecure 101 eliminates the traditional protection method such as spraying water, wet burlap sacks, and wet sand.

Polysulphide And Polyurethane Sealants

Polysulphide adhesives and sealants are often used in construction to seal off joints and channels. Polysulphide sealant provides a waterproof seal, minimising the risk of water leaking into an area and causing damage or erosion.

In case of roads or bridges exposed to extreme weather, the concrete itself must be protected against the damage from all the possibilities of water at the joints openings. The solid material must be prevented from falling and collecting in the open joints; otherwise, the joints won’t contract freely later. If this occurs, then high stress may be generated and can damage the concrete structure.

In highways, the joints are needed to be strengthened and sealed to prevent damage from heavy traffic. Hence, a sealant’s function is to restrict the entry of water, solids and gases, and protect the concrete structure from them.

Microfibres For Concrete Strengthening

Fibres are usually used in concrete to control cracking due to plastic shrinkage and due to drying shrinkage. They also reduce the permeability of concrete, further reducing the bleeding of water. Fibres include steel fibres, glass fibres, synthetic fibres , and natural fibres – each of which contributes varying properties to the concrete.

Mapei Mapefibre NS12/NS18 (Polypropylene fibres for concrete, 12mm/18mm long): Mapefibre NS12/NS18 are 100 per cent virgin mono-filament polypropylene fibres which are resistant to alkalis and which do not absorb water. They have been specially developed to reduce the formation of cracks induced by hygrometric shrinkage of the concrete at the fresh and hardened stages.

Macrofibres: Macro synthetic fibres are typically used in structural concrete to replace a nominal bar or fabric reinforcement. It can provide the concrete with significant post-cracking capacity. It hence can be used in some designs based on plastic analysis, such as for ground-supported slabs and rock support using sprayed concrete.

Mapefibre BG 55: These are specially extruded, embossed and precision cut monofilament polypropylene structural fibres for high-performance fibre-reinforced concrete and sprayed concrete with high ductility. Mapefibre BG 55 are characterised by a high aspect ratio and a specifically embossed surface–this helps in achieving strong adhesion to the cementitious paste, therefore increasing the general performances of the fibres, including the concrete ductility.

Maintenance Of Roads

Mapei solutions for the highway maintenance sector allow repair work to be carried out using products characterised by high mechanical performance characteristics, which remain durable over the years, including when subjected to heavy stresses. Mapecoat DW25 is an easy to apply, two-component epoxy paint used to form a coating for use on concrete surfaces that are in contact with drinking water and foodstuffs. Mapecoat DW25 is applied by mixing Part A and Part B. This is used for the residential water tanks after cleaning. This paint gives a protective coating to the concrete surfaces. Mapecoat DW25 is certified by CFTRI for food grade usage and is available in a 5 kg pack.

Mapesil LM is an easy to apply neutral mould-resistant silicone sealant with very low emission level of volatile organic compounds (VOC) for stone and marble. Mapesil LM generally forms an excellent bond on non-absorbent substrates too, such as glass, ceramic, clinker, enamelled surfaces, water and solvent-based varnish, metals in general and on various types of plastic. It is also suitable for contact with absorbent mineral substrates, such as concrete, render and fibre-cement. It is available in different colours as a 310 ml cartridge.

MapeSlope is an easy to apply one-component cementitious levelling mortar for building up slopes on roofs over new and old waterproof sheaths. MapeSlope is a mortar used to level off substrates with hollows on roofs or substrates that are out of flat in order to re-establish slope enough for water to run off and to make them suitable for the application of a waterproofing product. The product is available in 5 kg bags.

Mapewall Plaster is an easy to apply polymer modified premixed cement-based plaster. It can be used on interior and exterior wall surfaces. It is convenient, easy to use, strong and bonds better to its substrate. Further, it provides an even surface, on which tiling can be done faster and efficiently. It is available in a 1 kg pack.

Planicrete SBR is an easy to apply additive, which improves the mechanical and adhesive characteristics of cement-based screeds, renders and smoothens the layers. It is available in 5 kg and 1 kg packing

Mapei’s Contribution To Atal Tunnel: World’s Longest Highway Tunnel Above 10,000 Feet

The strategic Rohtang tunnel also called Atal Tunnel, which has been named after the late former PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee, is likely to be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the month of September this year.

This highway tunnel is being built under the Rohtang Pass in the eastern Pir Panjal Range of the Himalayas on the Leh-Manali Highway. At 9.02 km length, the tunnel will be one of the longest road tunnels in India and is expected to reduce the distance between Manali and Leh by 46 km and travel time by 4 to 6 hours. This tunnel will be fully operational year-round and Leh could be accessed throughout the year from mainland India.
